Westlake Neighborhood Description
Located less than fifteen minutes west of downtown Austin, West Lake Hills (sometimes referred to as Westlake Hills, or just Westlake) is a great residential area that also maintains a small-town feel despite being located in the greater Austin metropolitan area. Comprised of four square miles in the 78746 zip code, Westlake was developed rapidly in the ’70s and ’80s and features many unique characteristics as it’s citizens strive to preserve the rural environment and feel of its natural beauty.
Only a very short drive from the large Zilker park, most restaurants and shops can be found conveniently located off Bee Cave Road with a larger shopping area located off Bee Cave Road and 360 (Highway 360). Westlake is entirely located within the Eanes ISD which features the famous Westlake High School, and can be found with the MLS area code “8E.”
*Austin Country Club is the closest club to the Westlake area but is not the official club of the area. Davenport Ranch is the only subdivision/neighborhood that offers homes on the Austin Country Club golf course and within walking distance to the club.
Austin Country Club Overview
Golf
Austin Country Club was founded November 14, 1899, by Lewis Hancock, a man of more than ordinary vision. In those days country clubs and golf were practically unknown and we believe it correct to state that the Austin Golf Club (later to be renamed the Austin Country Club) was the first of its kind organized in Texas. The course has moved from Hancock to Riverside, to finally Davenport Ranch where the club is currently house.
Tennis
ACC’s Tennis facilities are nearly unrivaled. The property features twelve full-size courts with a proper unit mix of clay and hard surfaces. The tennis community is tight-knit and holds frequent events, tournaments, and pickle-ball socials. Children are more than welcome at the club’s tennis facilities! There are tennis, swim, and sports camps offered for different age groups. There is a place for everyone in tennis.
Fitness
The fitness facilities at ACC overlook the pool, cabana, and host beautiful views of the famous Pennybacker Bridge over Lake Austin. The facilities feature Peloton Stationary Bicycles, Woodway Treadmills, Crossfit-style equipment for full-body workouts, and all other high-end, customary workout equipment. The Club offers private personal training sessions, group fitness classes, and luxurious locker rooms to prepare for and wind-down from a workout.
